“Black Christmas” (2019)

Sophia Takal’s take on Black Christmas, based on the 1974 Bob Clark slasher, is probably the most “woke” film I have ever seen. This isn’t necessarily bad, but its execution leaves a lot to be desired. (cont)

“The Hunt” (2020)

The Hunt was supposed to come out last September, but between the controversial plot – wealthy, liberal elites hunting poor, gun-loving conservatives – combined with a weekend of violence at the hands of gun-toting mass shooters in two separate massacres, the film was pulled. (cont)

“Into the Storm” (2014)

I love disaster movies. In my mind, The Day After Tomorrow is the Citizen Kane of disaster flicks: it is a worldwide event; a significant portion of the population is wiped out; and the main disaster spawns all sorts of little disasters. Then, when they run out of disasters, they throw in a pack of hungry wolves! (cont)

 

“Ouija” (2014)

I played Ouija when I was little. It was just what you did at slumber parties, along with makeovers and prank phone calls. Even at eight years old, I knew that it wasn’t real. Hell, I was often the one pushing the planchette. Never once were we haunted – not even a weird creak or flicker of the lights…(cont)
