“Black Christmas” (2019)

Sophia Takal’s take on Black Christmas, based on the 1974 Bob Clark slasher, is probably the most “woke” film I have ever seen. This isn’t necessarily bad, but its execution leaves a lot to be desired. (cont)

I love disaster movies. In my mind, The Day After Tomorrow is the Citizen Kane of disaster flicks: it is a worldwide event; a significant portion of the population is wiped out; and the main disaster spawns all sorts of little disasters. “Ouija” (2014)

I played Ouija when I was little. It was just what you did at slumber parties, along with makeovers and prank phone calls. Even at eight years old, I knew that it wasn’t real. Hell, I was often the one pushing the planchette. Never once were we haunted – not even a weird creak or flicker of the lights…(cont)
